There are valid points that using computers and going online too much over a long period of time can slowly lead to obesity and not getting much exercise or going out as often and instead sitting for hours in front of a screen. The issue is not about using computers or laptops but more on the length of time or using it for too long. Nowadays a lot of people are attached to using their laptops and going online whether it is for entertainment or work wise. This attachment is becoming more and more common. The anxiety of always checking email or facebook has now become part of our lives and mental state. Spending long number of hours in the dark maybe could to lead to future problems for mental health. Still a question to be asked is -are people relying on the internet too much?
There are pessimistic and optimistic views on the use of media. The negative views are the issues of people becoming too attached to electronic devices for entertainment instead of playing sports or interacting with people and family. With the increasing reliance and use of the internet, some people are not as engaging with the community and some relationships could suffer due to our growing attachment to our electronic devices. Still on the other side, media can bring people together with common interests and the internet could help make friends and keep in touch more easily and cheaper. Having discussions, conversations or debates may be more personal in person as the traditional gatherings of groups are slowly declining. Should our society start balancing out time with more old school active activities and spend a little less time in front of screens? Everyone has their own opinions on this matter and over time will think more about this issue.
